Anil Tahiliani, B.Comm, CFA, CIM, MBA
Portfolio Manager, North American Equities

Anil Tahiliani is portfolio manager for North American equities with McLean & Partners, coming to the firm from a broad background in industry, investment and government.

Within the research team, Anil leads the bottom-up analysis of dozens of individual companies, assessing their business fundamentals, sustainable advantages, key competitors, markets and industry dynamics in order to select the equity investments that will drive growth in client portfolios. (Other team members do top-down analysis of global economic trends.)

He joined the research team in 2000, focusing on global equities before taking on the portfolio manager’s role for North American markets.

Anil began his career as a financial analyst with the Government of Alberta Treasury Department before moving to Bissett & Associates Investment Management Ltd. as a portfolio manager. He then moved to Phoenix to take the CFO position at a nutritional healthcare company and later co-founded and acted as CFO for an Internet service provider until the company was sold in 2000.

He holds a Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor, as well as Canadian Investment Manager and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.

Away from the office, Anil is an avid runner, skier and cyclist and the founder of the VOLT youth volunteering organization in Calgary. He’s a past volunteer with Junior Achievement and in 2003 he was named by Calgary Inc. Magazine to its Top 40 Under 40.
